If you’re supporting a student through the HSC and want to help without hovering, pushing, or feeling like you’re making things worse, this session is designed to provide clarity — not more pressure.
Â
WHO THIS IS FOR / NOT FOR
Â
This session is for parents who:
• Are supporting a student through the NSW HSC
• Want to lead calmly rather than reactively
• Feel unsure when to step in and when to step back
• Want guidance without blame, fear, or guarantees
Â
This session is not for parents who:
• Want advice specific to their child
• Are seeking therapy or treatment
• Want strategies to control results or outcomes
• Are looking for a quick fix
Is this therapy or counselling?
Can I ask questions about my child?
Is this appropriate if my child already has support?
Do both parents need to attend?
Will this be recorded?
Â
Â
WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH
Â
Â
In this briefing, we’ll explore:
Â
• Why well-intentioned support often escalates conflict under pressure
• How pressure changes behaviour in families, even when everyone is trying their best
• What calm parental leadership actually looks like during high-stakes academic years
• A clear framework for thinking about how to support effort without increasing strainÂ
Â
The session is designed to help parents leave with greater clarity about their role and how to approach the HSC year calmly.
