Your Momentum Check
WHERE'S THE FRICTION?
Your answers suggest friction may be showing up in more than one place.
There may not be one clear point where momentum consistently gets stuck.
Sometimes it might be making the decision.
Sometimes it’s protecting the priority once the week gets busy.
Other times, the plan may be clear but difficult to translate into action — or things start well until something changes and you need to adapt or re-enter.
That doesn’t mean everything is a problem.
It simply means your most useful question may be:
Where is the friction showing up this time?
Friction can move
The thing that gets in your way isn’t always the same.
A priority might begin with uncertainty about what to do, then compete for attention once you’ve decided. You might protect the time but discover the action itself isn’t clear enough. Or you might build momentum until an unexpected week knocks the plan off course.
The goal isn’t to eliminate every possible source of friction.
It’s to get better at noticing where it is showing up now.
Start with what's happening now?
Â
Think about one meaningful priority you’re currently trying to move.
Ask yourself:
Where does progress seem to be getting stuck right now?
Is it:
- Deciding — I keep thinking instead of committing.
- Protecting — other demands keep taking priority.
- Doing — I know what I want to do, but the action isn’t happening.
- Adapting — the plan stops working when circumstances change.
- Re-entering — once I’m disrupted, it’s difficult to restart.
You don’t need to solve all of them.
Choose the one that seems most relevant right now.
Don’t redesign everything.
Choose one friction point and make one adjustment.
Clarify the decision.
Protect the time.
Make the next action smaller.
Create a fallback.
Plan your re-entry.
Then test what happens.
What to notice
As the week unfolds, pay attention to where progress becomes harder.
Instead of:
Why can’t I just be more consistent?
Ask:
Where did the friction show up this time — and what did it teach me?
That gives you something you can actually work with.
WTF?
Where's the Friction?
It’s a slightly cheeky shorthand for a question worth asking more often.
When something important isn’t moving, it’s easy to blame motivation or discipline.
Why can’t I just do it?
Instead, ask:
WTF? Where’s the friction?
Friction can appear anywhere between deciding what matters and actually following through — in prioritising, taking action, adapting when things change, or recovering when you’re knocked off course.
Your result simply gives you one place to start looking.
That’s the thinking behind Momentum
I’m Amir Salem.
My work across psychology, behaviour change and achievement has led me to one question:
What happens between knowing something matters and consistently moving it through real life?
Capable people don’t always get stuck because they lack motivation.
Sometimes the plan doesn’t fit reality. Circumstances change. Friction appears. We don’t adapt quickly enough — and one disrupted week becomes stopping altogether.
That’s what led me to build Momentum.
Not a system that assumes everything will go to plan, but one designed to help you notice, adapt and keep moving.
What if you became better at noticing earlier?
Not perfectly disciplined. Not impossible to derail.
Just better at noticing when something isn’t working.
Identify the friction earlier.
Adjust before abandoning the plan.
Recover more deliberately when you’re knocked off course.
And each time, learn a little more about what helps you make meaningful progress.

Why Good Intentions Lose Momentum
Bring one meaningful priority you want to move forward.
Together, we’ll explore:
-Â where friction appears between intention and action
- why motivation isn’t always the problem
- what happens when plans meet real life
- how to notice, adapt and respond earlier
You won’t just listen. You’ll apply the Momentum model to your own priority and leave with one practical experiment to test.
Bring one priority. Let’s find the friction.
