Your Momentum Check

WHERE'S THE FRICTION?

Your answers suggest friction may be showing up around protecting the priority.

You know what matters. The problem is that everything else keeps getting there first.

Emails. Meetings. Deadlines. Clients. Family. Unexpected problems.

You can finish a very full week having done a lot and still realise:

The thing I said mattered barely moved.

This isn’t a diagnosis. It simply gives you one useful place to look:

The space between what matters and what gets your attention.

Important and immediate are not the same thing

Urgent work has an advantage: it asks for attention now and often has a clear finish line.

Reply to the email. Done.
Fix the issue. Done.
Attend the meeting. Done.

Meaningful work is different.

Strategy. Writing. Building. Training. Important conversations. Long-term projects.

It rarely feels finished after one session.

So immediate work keeps winning — while important work is left to survive on whatever time and energy remain.

IMMEDIATE

Asks for attention now. Often has consequences, deadlines or quick closure.

IMPORTANT

May create more meaningful movement but often has no immediate penalty for being delayed.

Try this with your last seven days

THE 2-MINUTE PRIORITY AUDIT

  1. What mattered most last week? One thing only.
  2. What actually received most of your attention?
  3. What repeatedly displaced the important thing?
  4. Could any of that have been predicted?
  5. What could you change before next week gets busy?

Don’t redesign your entire schedule.

Choose one adjustment.

Protect the time earlier.
Clarify the next action.
Move something less important.
Create a smaller fallback.
Set the boundary before the request arrives.

Then test what happens.

What to notice

As the week unfolds, pay attention to:

  • Did the priority stay visible?

  • What displaced it first?

  • Was that predictable?

  • Did protecting it earlier help?

  • Did you need a better plan — or a clearer decision about what could wait?

Instead of:

I need to be more disciplined next week.

Ask:

What did this week teach me about what my priority is competing against?

That gives you something you can actually work with.

WTF?

Where's the Friction?

It’s a slightly cheeky shorthand for a question worth asking more often.

When something important isn’t moving, it’s easy to blame motivation or discipline.

Why can’t I just do it?

Instead, ask:

WTF? Where’s the friction?

Friction can appear anywhere between deciding what matters and actually following through — in prioritising, taking action, adapting when things change, or recovering when you’re knocked off course.

Your result simply gives you one place to start looking.

That’s the thinking behind Momentum

I’m Amir Salem.

My work across psychology, behaviour change and achievement has led me to one question:

What happens between knowing something matters and consistently moving it through real life?

Capable people don’t always get stuck because they lack motivation.

Sometimes the plan doesn’t fit reality. Circumstances change. Friction appears. We don’t adapt quickly enough — and one disrupted week becomes stopping altogether.

That’s what led me to build Momentum.

Not a system that assumes everything will go to plan, but one designed to help you notice, adapt and keep moving.

What if you became better at noticing earlier?

Not perfectly disciplined. Not impossible to derail.

Just better at noticing when something isn’t working.

Identify the friction earlier.

Adjust before abandoning the plan.

Recover more deliberately when you’re knocked off course.

And each time, learn a little more about what helps you make meaningful progress.

Why Good Intentions Lose Momentum

Bring one meaningful priority you want to move forward.

Together, we’ll explore:

-  where friction appears between intention and action

- why motivation isn’t always the problem

- what happens when plans meet real life

- how to notice, adapt and respond earlier

You won’t just listen. You’ll apply the Momentum model to your own priority and leave with one practical experiment to test.

Bring one priority. Let’s find the friction.
