Let's Be Curious Together

Curiosity Before Solving

Developing the team or creating a better experience of being heard

Today’s small experiment

When someone brings you a problem today — a staff member, colleague, doctor or patient — try not to solve it immediately.

Instead, create a little more curiosity first.

Try this today

Before giving an answer, pause for 2–3 seconds and ask one more question.

You might try:

  • What do you think is happening here?
  • What have you tried so far?
  • What do you think the next step could be?
  • What feels most important here?
  • What do you need from me right now?

The goal isn’t to avoid helping.

Notice two things

As you try it, pay attention to:

What happens for them?
Do they think more deeply? Offer an idea? Clarify what they actually need?

What happens for you?
Do you notice an urge to jump in, give the answer, or fix the problem quickly?

There’s nothing to get “right” today.

Just notice.
